Friendship lasts forever??

They say, friendships are supposed to last a lifetime, forever.

They say, friendships are supposed to cross boundaries.

They say, friendships are supposed to know no limits and they stop at nothing.

They say, friendships are based on love, trust, respect and understanding.

But… do they?

What do you do:

… when you have a ‘friend’ who is so close to you that you share almost everything together yet when you make a mistake, he does not hesitate to tell the world that you have wronged him and without a flinch or a second thought, got everyone to gang up against you?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who only talks about himself and expects you to listen yet when you want him to listen, he is nowhere to be found?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who tells you his problems yet when you try to help solve them, he says that you are interfering and being bossy?

… when you have a ‘friend’ with whom you had clashes before yet when you try to make amends, it seems as if he is not interested?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who makes promises that he will probably never keep?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who treats you like dirt yet is actually very much able to treat the apple of his eyes so much better even though it had always been you who stood by him through thick and thin?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who is so willing to spend time with the love of his life but not with you or for you?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who does not lift a finger to make this friendship works yet expects you to love him?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who cannot accept your weaknesses and use them against you?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who feels really inferior when dealing with you that you feel annoyed and uncomfortable?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who controls your every move because he "knows better"?

… when you have a ‘friend’ whom you know is doing wrong yet you cannot talk him out of it?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who refuses to listen to you?

… when you have a ‘friend’ who has hurt you beyond words, that you have cried yourself to sleep trying to understand why he did what he did to you yet you still do not understand?

If all of these happen, will friendship still last a lifetime, forever? Will it still know no boundaries, no limits? Will it still stop at nothing? Will it? Will it?

Friendships are based on love, trust, respect and understanding yet for me, the basis of them is trust. So, when trust is broken, when your friend had a minute of doubt about you, how do you deal with it?

Nusantara ‘07: The Curtain Call

Filed under: Uncategorized — amrahmajid at 7:15 am on Saturday, February 3, 2007

Nusantara Theatrical Week 2007 is over.

Now, allow me to have my personal curtain call… (drumroll please!)

To Leman, ex-officio of Nusantara ‘07 and President of IIUM Theatre Club,

Thanks for giving me the trust to lead Nusantara and to continue what you
started two years ago. I hope that you will continue to bring glory to the
club!

To the production teams,

Congratulations! I think you guys saw how much the audience loved you, so that
summed up everything you’ve put in for Nusantara. Enjoy the glory!

To all my committee members: Special Tasks, Prep and Tech, Pub and Pro,
WelTrans and PC,

Gracias! Thank you! Syukran Jazillan! Terima kasih!

You guys had been wonderful! You were efficient, diligent, cool, calm and
collected in facing everything. Sanggup sapu satu main audi everyday, sanggup
berdiri berjam-jam dekat depan pintu, sanggup kena marah dengan impertinent and
rude audience, sanggup datang awal yet balik lewat everyday: everything for
Nusantara.

You were the main reason Nusantara went well last week. Not me, not the
mainboard, not the actors (coz they were backstage and had no idea of what went
on those four days). Without you, Nusantara wouldn’t be as it was. You worked
like a pro even though some of you are fresh and still new in organizing
events.

I’m sorry I didn’t have a chance to get to know all of you and I’m sorry that I
never had the chance to find out who you guys are and in fact, I’m sorry I
didn’t know all your names. Yet it had been a wonderful pleasure to have you
guys as a part of Nusantara. I hope, whatever lessons you learned from
Nusantara, you can bring them forth whenever you join a programme next time.

To my management board: Ummi,
Cali,
Sakip, Eleena, Sara, Ain, Faez, Diana, Teha and Akmal,

You guys rock! Even though at first, some of you guys were a bit blur of what I
wanted from you, yet you catched up and not only that, you did far more than
what I expected from you. I know Nusantara (especially meetings - haha!) took
so much of your time yet you didn’t neglect it at all and you gave your very
best.

I see so much potential in all of you. Well, that’s why I chose you to be a
part of Nusantara in the first place. I know you will all be great leaders and
perhaps, one of you can be the next Programme Manager of Nusantara ‘08 ke, ek?
Huhu… I’ll definitely recommend you to Leman.

To my beloved mainboard, my intan payung (quoting
Salina),

Ni kena acknowledge sorang-sorang ni…

Azua: I know
holding 4 positions in this was not easy yet you managed it very well indeed. I
am so proud of you! Honest! Thank you for everything!

Xole:
Alalalalalalala… Rajinnye budak ni… Betul! Sangat rajin. Buat-buat jek malas
tapi time wat keje, hebat aje! Tambah posters, sangkut banners. Semua dia buat.
Huhu. Thanks Xole. Thanks a lot. I’ll be missing your perangai and your jokes…

Akmal: Akmal
memang best! Memang precise, memang detailed. Pendek kata, memang Ah Long la!
Huhu… Kalau Amrah tau Mal macam ni dari awal, dah lama tarik jadi FC. Huhu… Thanks!!!

Kim: Kim rajin
wat surat. Tapi kesian kena reprint
banyak kali. I’m sorry but I’m quite detailed bout benda-benda macam ni. Huhu. Pastu
skang dah pandai garang-garang. Bile Kim bersuara, semua orang dengar. Hebat! I
hope you gained valuable knowledge while working with me. And I know you will
be a great Secretary one day! No more Assistant Secretary, okay? Huhu.

Fader: What can I
say? Ko dah keje ngan aku dari matric. Banyak program aku join, ko mesti ada. We
make quite a tough team kan?
Huhu. And so, thanks for standing by me through all the years. You are a great
friend and colleague.

Liyana: You are a
star! You know who you are and what your potential is. You have the confidence,
you have the grace. You have it all in you. You’re a leader on your own,
Liyana. And thus, through your own experience, you’ve made my job a whole lot easier! Huhu… (And I enjoyed the sembang-sembang lepas makan pizza luar Main Audi
with Ummi aritu tau… huhu)

Memen: Like I
said yesterday, what would I do without you?? You are heaven-sent! You cheered me up when times are
rough, telling me things will be okay. You came immediately when I asked for
help. You helped me sort out most problems. You waited for me for 40 minutes
kat STADD aritu… Eheheh… Like you said, teruk jugak kena keje kan? Huhu… Even though you enjoy ‘kutuking’ me and seeing me suffer, still, I know
you love me. Ahahahahahahaha! Seriously, I am going to miss you. And as I said long ago, I took you as my assistant because I have high hopes on you. Simply because I know you can be a great leader. Don’t disappoint me!

And to all…

I AM SORRY FOR EVERY WRONG I DID. I AM NOT PERFECT YET I DO MY BEST TO BE THE BEST AND BRING THE BEST TO YOU. WHATEVER WRONG I DID, TAKE THEM AS LESSONS AND DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKES I MADE. YET FOR EVERY RIGHT DECISION I MADE, YOU CAN ALL FOLLOW AND EMULATE THEM.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

And since I am graduating really, really soon, I know I’ll keep you guys here in my heart and memories. *sob sob*
