This may be a bit too late but anyhow, SALAM AIDILFITRI to all my Muslim brothers and sisters. Hope you had a great raya and I suspect many of you will continue celebrating ‘Eid for the next few days.
This year, ‘Eid is a bit boring for our household. No cheeky Iman and her mummy and daddy as they celebrated raya in Singapore and baby Amni and her mummy and daddy were at her maternal grandparents’ place in Gombak. Which means, only my parents, Abang Lan, Afif, Anas and I were home during the first day of Raya. By the way, Abang Lan left for Boston yesterday - lagi la takde orang kat rumah! But we did receive a few visitors - family members and my parents’ friends. And yeah, this was the last Raya for Afif in Malaysia (at least for the next four years or so) as he is leaving for the US either late this year or early next year. Yay! Jimat duit raya 4 tahun! Haha. And this year also marked the first time I gave out duit raya instead of receiving them. It is a good feeling, you know, especially to see the look on the kids’ faces when they received those packets from me. It is worth every single cent.
Anyway, tomorrow Iman will be back from Singapore. Yay! And on a different, darker and more depressing note, tomorrow, I have to go back to reality a.k.a work. And I also have to go back to my reading on Middle East history and literature and history of literature and whatever it is that is connected to my plan for my further education. I have to go back to thinking and planning and mapping out the future that I put on hold because I was so looking forward to raya (holidays, actually). Ugh… just thinking about it gives me a headache…
